>> Congratulations Oliver!

Congratulations to Oliver Peart (Year 1), the new record holder for discus at Cockatoo Little Athletics! Oliver threw the discus 19 meters, breaking a 20-year old record of 17 meters for his age group. Well done!

>> Fundraising Efforts – Thank you

A big thank you to all those in our school community who assisted with the Icy-Pole and Hot Cross Bun fundraisers throughout Term 1. Through your incredible efforts we raised over $800 for our Chapel. A special thank you to Natalie Everard for coordinating the fundraisers, the hours Natalie has spent behind the scenes has been phenomenal. Congratulations to the Peart family who were awarded a special Easter Hamper for raising the most money through the Hot Cross Bun Fundraiser. Stay tuned for details about our Mother’s Day and Bunnings fundraisers in Term 2!

>> Feedback from NAPLAN Practice Test

Well done to the Year 3 students who participated in a coordinated online practice test for NAPLAN 2019. Our new Chromebooks worked very smoothly during the session. We noticed that some students continue to struggle with the use of the computer mouse as well as overall control of the functions on the laptops. We will continue to run practice sessions in early Term 2, however it would be helpful for Year 3 students to do some constructive computer work at home over the school break – for example they could write a story using Word, draw a picture using Paint, or create a PowerPoint presentation about their holidays.

 >> Term 1 Highlights

It has been wonderful to see the parents, staff and students settle happily into the school year. Some highlights include the SCOPE-IT coding sessions, the introduction of House Points, our regular parent and student Masses, the launch of the Harkaway Hills College choir, and the historic Opening of our First Permanent Building on 18 March. In addition to these highlights, we have enjoyed having a happy and thriving school culture, and we have seen a huge growth in all our students throughout the term – both academically and personally.
