>> Welcome to Term 2
What a brilliant start to Term 2 at Harkaway Hills College! It is hard to believe we are already two weeks into the term. In this short time we have had a number of special events for our school community, including our ANZAC Day ceremony, our Cross Country race, a Footy workshop for students, a Virtue Talk for parents, and a very well attended Open Day. There are many more exciting learning adventures ready for children this term… watch this space for updates!
>> ANZAC Day Commemoration
On Thursday 25 April, 11 representatives from Harkaway Hills College marched at the annual ANZAC Day parade hosted by the Berwick RSL in the Berwick town centre. The students wore their uniforms and family war medals with pride and the local community were impressed by their behaviour and their understanding of the importance of the march.
Then, on Friday 26 April, all staff and students gathered for a solemn commemoration for ANZAC Day 2019 at Harkaway Hills College. All four classes performed beautiful commemoration pieces prepared and led by their class teachers. They all performed exceptionally – a special thank you to the teachers who put in so much thought and care into the performances.
>> Footy Workshop
Thank you to the Melbourne Football Club for spending a morning with Years 2-4 to run through some footy drills. The students had a great morning! Special thanks to Mr Anthony O’Shea for organising the session.
>> Cross Country Carnival 2019
What a fantastic day we had on Monday 29 April for our 2019 Cross Country carnival! Congratulations to the Blue Team for winning the most House Points on the day. We congratulate all our students for their enormous effort and of course a special thank you to the staff, parents and grandparents who worked so hard behind the scenes to make the day possible.
>> Prize from Altronics
Thank you to the company ‘Altronics’ for selecting Harkaway Hills College as the winner of a prize package containing material and resources for electronics and robotics extension classes. We can’t wait to build our new school robot!
